The summer months have kicked into gear here at the Villages of Citrus Hills, and the events and activities are doing their best to follow with warm weather themed fun.
This month’s social activities are packed with a luau, a pool party, and a baseball game while the food specials are equally appropriate for summer.
Let’s jump in and take a look at some of the excitement that our friends over at the activity center have planned for us in June!
The King himself will be on hand at the Hampton Room on Thursday, June 16 for Elvis’ Blue Hawaii Luau. This event will have everything you would expect from a classic luau, including a menu of Chili Cinnamon Glazed Sliced Pork, Baked Tilapia with Mango Pineapple Salsa, and Chipotle Smoked Cheddar Mash. Doors will open at 5 pm. Dinner starts at 5:45 pm. There will be music and dancing to follow.
Team Spare Parts were the winners of last month’s trivia challenge, but everyone will be back for a new challenge on Tuesday, June 21. If you are up to the challenge, we’ll see you then!
This month’s Summer Splash Sunday happens Sunday, June 26 from 1-4 p.m. at the Activity Center Pool. Music will be provided by saxophonist Alan Darcy and there will be lemonade and tea refreshments.
On Tuesday, June 28, there will be a bus trip to Tampa to see the Rays host the Boston Red Sox. Tickets for this fun evening are $45, and they include admission to the game, round trip transportation, and a Tampa Bay Rays hat!
Arts & Education
Another installment of DocTalk is scheduled for Tuesday, June 7 at 1 pm in the Activity Center. Guest speaker Smita Padala will be discussing the important topic of Kidney Care. She will cover many of the most common kidney ailments and ways to prevent them.
If you haven’t attended one of local artist Vanessa Fuller-Brown’s Coffee & Canvas sessions yet, what on earth are you waiting for? On Saturday, June 18, she will be instructing a group on replicating Paul Cezanne’s “Apples & Oranges.” The cost is $60, which includes all of the supplies you will need.
Golf & Tennis
While many of our golfers choose to spend the summers tackling courses up north, there are still quite a few events for the golfers that have decided to remain in Citrus County for the summer. The Citrus Hills Summer Open is scheduled for June 4, and Skyview is hosting their Men’s Pinehurst Tournament on June 13-14 and their US Impossible Tournament on June 18.
The month of June is also a great time of year to focus on improving your game by attending one of the Citrus Hills Golf Clinics. There will be clinics for beginners on June 13, 14, and 15. If you are already beyond the beginner level, you can check out the intermediate golf clinics on June 21 and 28.
If tennis is the game you have been looking to start playing, there will be a free beginner clinic at the Skyview Tennis Center on Tuesday, June 14. You don’t even need to bring your own racquet. Tennis shoes are required.
Our friends at Skyview Restaurant have some epic specials planned that stretch throughout the entire month. On June 14, they will feature Foods of the Forgotten Coast…also known as oysters, quail, grouper, steak, and crab cakes. There will be a Father’s Day Brunch on June 19 and a Soft-shell Crab-Aganza on June 23.
Then, the biggest dinner special of the month will be the South American Food & Wine Pairing happening on Tuesday, June 28. This four-course meal will feature wines from Chile, Argentina, and Brazil with foods that match perfectly.
The Tiki Bar will be hosting a ‘50s Night Buffet on June 30 that will combine some of the best foods and music of the 1950s.
With a whole month of fun that includes golfing, a pool party, and a baseball game, you might find yourself feeling pretty exhausted from spending all that time in the sun. If that happens, take some time for yourself at BellaVita spa, which will have Tuff Guy Facials, Swedish Massages, and Tropical Spa Pedicures on special all month long.
Have a great month!
