Not a day goes by where tennis members don’t stick their heads in my office door with a question. They range from rules and regulations, to my take on the newest polyester string, to what I thought about Serena’s outfit in last night’s Tennis Channel broadcast (please refer wardrobe questions to Nancy in the future). The men's and women's club championship tournament was completed yesterday in perfect weather in front of an appreciative crowd on the deck. The farewell reception for Kim and Truc Duong brought a lot of old friends together in The Garden Room. The Duongs will be moving to North Carolina as part of the Duke Energy re-organization, and we couldn’t let them go without a proper sendoff. Truc spoke at length about his life in Citrus County, thanking many in the room for their friendship and support. It was a joyous occasion that we won’t soon forget.
Thanks to Gerry Mulligan and Dr. Sunil Gandhi for getting this party started, and special thanks to Laura Lambert and the catering staff at Citrus Hills who squeezed us in with just a few days’ notice. We were served beautifully well beyond our scheduled time. But the biggest thanks of all goes to Truc and Kim for sharing the last 22 years and setting a standard of civility the rest of us can only hope to achieve. We wish them all the best.
