If ever there was love at first sight, it was what Ed & Alice Galuska felt when they first laid eyes on Terra Vista.

Once deciding to escape the winters in New England the Galuska’s started to search for that special retirement lifestyle. Although they owned a condo in Southeast Florida, they felt life would be more enjoyable in a less crowded and less stressful environment. They started a search that lasted a number of years. Along the way they explored a variety of central Florida communities including the Villages and On Top of the World.

“We discovered Terra Vista on the Internet, but we were not sure it was go- ing to be a fit for our lifestyle. Based on the online presentation it almost looked too good to be true,” comments Alice Galuska. It was over a decade ago that Greg and Charmaine Jagodinsky first discovered Terra Vista at a special promotion in their native home of Wisconsin. Following a visit to inspect the area and community their love affair with Citrus County and Terra Vista began.

“At first we were considering both Arizona and Florida as our future retirement home. After visiting and experiencing what was here, we first purchased a home site and here we are twelve years later in our new home,” explains Greg, “In the years since purchasing our lot we regularly visited Terra Vista and watched the community evolve.” What has happened here in terms of the beauty of the neighborhood and amenities are beyond what we actually expected.” (more…)

Over the last couple of months the Troutman’s have been settling into their new home overlooking the hillside scenery in Terra Vista following their move from Rochester, New York. Through the years it was the fifth home they custom built, and in the end it was the most satisfying of their homebuilding experiences.

After considering North Carolina and Maryland they decided warmer is better and the no state income tax status of Florida certainly looked appealing.  They settled on Central Florida and started their research.  In locating the right community the design of home was the paramount concern and the caliber of amenities to be enjoyed was a close second. For years Mike and Jean Haight had been visiting relatives in Ocala and exploring the entire region.  Those experiences convinced them that this general area of Florida was ultimately where they wanted to retire.  When the time came they were faced with the decision of just where in the area they would settle for their new home.

“It was love at first sight,” Jean says, “I was on a fact finding mission while Mike was still in California when I drove up to Terra Vista and saw the entrance and beautifully manicured landscaping.  I just knew that this was the place for us.”

Within a couple of weeks Mike visited and without hesitation agreed that they had found the jewel they had been seeking.  They both were attracted to the area’s natural beauty.
